Ramps for houses
We install modular aluminum ramps with platforms and handrails, and shop-built steel ramps and landings. We also set threshold ramps at doors.
Every ramp starts with a home visit to measure. The visit is free. You get a written price after the visit.
Prices
| Item | Price before HST |
|---|---|
| Modular aluminum ramp with platforms and handrails | Quoted after a free home visit to measure |
| Shop-built steel ramp or landing | Quoted, usually $5,500 to $12,000, plus permit and drawings where required |

We do not rent ramps at this time.
How we size a ramp
- We measure the total height from the ground to the door sill, the space in front of the steps, the door swing and the distance to the lot line and driveway.
- For a wheelchair user, we build at a slope of 1 in 12 or gentler. That means at least 30 cm (1 foot) of ramp length for every 2.5 cm (1 inch) of height.
- Ramps are at least 860 mm wide, with a level landing at the top and bottom, handrails on both sides and raised edges.
- We ask only what we need to size the ramp, for example whether a wheelchair, scooter or walker will use it.
Permits
Many cities need a building permit for a ramp or landing that is attached to the house, higher than 600 mm, or larger than 10 square metres. We check the rule in your city, tell you if a permit is needed, and show the permit cost as its own line on the quote.
Photos that help
Take a photo of the steps with a tape measure showing the total height from the ground to the door sill, and one of the space in front of the steps.
Warranty
Warranty terms are set out in each written quote.
