Second stair handrails and wall handrails
We add a second handrail to your stairs, so there is a rail on both sides. A straight indoor stair up to 4 m is $695. HST is added where it applies.
We also fit short handrails up to 1.5 m beside an entry, garage or basement step for $349.

What we build to
- The top of the rail sits 865 to 965 mm above the front edge of the steps.
- A round rail 30 to 40 mm across that a hand can close around, at least 50 mm clear of the wall.
- Brackets fixed into studs or solid blocking, no more than 1.2 m apart.
- Returns at the top and bottom, so the rail ends at the wall and does not catch a sleeve.
- A load test at each end bracket and in the middle before we leave.
Installs take about half a day. We use drop sheets and shoe covers and keep the stairs clear while we work. Your written quote gives the install date or window.
